Ageless Eyes: Eye Makeup Tips
Eye makeup can be the perfect camouflage for aging eyes, but only if you know how to apply the makeup correctly. Before you start thinking about medical treatments, try these “keep them looking young” make up tips.
Eyeliner Beauty Tips
Wide-Eyed Look: White liner draws attention to the eyes, making them look larger and younger. To extend the whites of your eyes, use a white pencil eyeliner. Simply draw a fine line on the eyelids and smudge the eyeliner for a softer look. This will make your eyes pop as they will look brighter, fresher, and more awake.
Better Than Black: Use an alternative to black eyeliner. Thick black lines around the eyes tend to age the eyes, especially when on the eyelids. Good alternatives to black are lighter shades of eyeliner. As mentioned above, white eyeliner or bright eye shadows can be used on the eyelid for a fresher, younger look. Brown eyeliner is also a good alternative to black eyeliner. If you must use black eyeliner be sure to make the lines very narrow.
Eye Shadow Beauty Tips
Eye Shadow Color: As with black eyeliner, dark eye shadows can give eyes an aging appearance. On the other side of the spectrum are bright, neon eye shadows; they too will age your eyes. It’s best to use natural colors that are on the light side of the color scheme but not too bright. If you’ve found an eye shadow that draws attention to the color of your eyes, you’ve found a winner!
Applying Eye Shadows: For youthful looking eyes it’s best to reduce the amount of eye shadow you use. Apply as little as possible, going for a look that isn’t drawing attention to the eye shadow but enhancing your eyes. Blend and smooth any lines for a more natural look.
Hiding Dark Under Eye Circles
Causes of Dark Eye Circles: Some circles under eyes are often caused by lack of sleep. Some women simply have dark eye circles due to shadows created by a more sunken in area below the eye. If you have dark circles due to a lack of sleep, it’s time to start evaluating your schedule. Perhaps moving some activities around so that you may go to sleep earlier can help you get the rest you require. If not, or if your dark circles are the result of shadows, the following concealer techniques will do wonders.
Conceal Dark Under Eye Circles: Concealer is the best cosmetic in your makeup bag. Choose a concealer that is a shade lighter than your natural skin color. Apply with a small flat concealer brush so that less pressure is used than fingers. Constant handling around the eyes, a very sensitive area, may increase the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Brush the concealer in circle strokes to blend evenly, then apply a powder top-coat to help the concealer blend in and last longer. You’ll have eyes that look younger and fresher in no time.
Beautiful Eyelashes
Mascara Mistake: Remember Tammy Faye Bakker? Her eyelashes are the supreme example of what not to do. Eyelashes that are even slightly clumpy can make your eyes look old. To rid the clumps, use a small lash brush to comb through the mascara after it is applied. Try using a toothpick to remove the clumps from sticky lashes, being careful not to get poked in the eye.
False Lashes: There comes a time when false eye lashes age your eyes, especially if they look fake. But if you must wear false lashes, be sure they look natural. The individual false lashes are a more natural looking. They are used in the exterior corner of the eye. Gently comb or run a toothpick through to blend with your real eyelashes.
Eye Enhancing Eyebrows
Alter Your Eyebrows: A subtle alteration of your eyebrows can create a dramatically younger face. By arching the brows with your brush or tweezers lifts the eyes for a younger appearance. Bring the eye of the viewer upward and away from crow’s feet with a light application of highlighting cream shadow just below them. Be wary of highlighting powders just under the eyebrow. They can appear too dramatic and unnatural.
